HAMILTON COUNTY, Neb. (KSNB) - A multi-vehicle crash on I-80 halted traffic between Hampton and Henderson Thursday morning.

Hamilton County Sheriff Jeromy McCoy said the 911 center started getting multiple calls just before 9:30 a.m. about an accident at mile marker 340, that’s one mile west of the Henderson interchange.

Construction was just being finished with westbound down to just one lane when the accident occurred.

Sheriff McCoy said a vehicle rear-ended another vehicle that then got hit by a third vehicle and then a semi came through and was unable to stop hitting two more vehicles behind the initial accident.

Two vehicles were pushed into the median, three remained in the westbound lane and the semi ended up crossing the eastbound lanes.

The sheriff said three people were taken to the hospital for minor injuries. They have since been treated and released.

Traffic was backed up at the Henderson exit. Westbound I-80 was closed for about a half hour and eastbound was closed for about an hour.
