LPD: Driver hits gas pedal instead of brake, crashes into building in southeast Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Police said a driver accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake when they crashed into a building in southeast Lincoln Tuesday morning.
First responders were dispatched to a strip mall containing the Pioneer Heart Institute at 70th and Van Dorn, just before 7 a.m.
Police said the driver was in the parking lot when the accelerator was possibly mistaken for the brake.
On scene, a 10/11 reporter witnessed a green SUV sitting on the sidewalk outside the front of the building. A wall of windows on the building was damaged after being pushed inward by the impact of the crash.
Damage to the structure was estimated at $50,000. No citations were issued.
