LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -Mickey Joseph and the Huskers spoke to the media on Tuesday prior to their game against Minnesota.

The Nebraska football team could be without its starting quarterback this week. Casey Thompson is battling an injury suffered in Saturday’s 26-9 loss to Illinois.

Casey Thompson did not practice again on Tuesday for the Huskers. He has an arm injury and Mickey Joseph said he’s day-to-day.

“Right now, its a nerve in his elbow,” Joseph said. “He’s day to day. I wanted to hold him out and see the doctors.”

If Thompson is unable to play, the Huskers will turn to Logan Smothers or Chubba Purdy. In the second half against Illinois, Purdy completed just three of eight pass attempts. Joseph said the redshirt freshman from Florida simply needs to settle down.

Nebraska’s home game against Minnesota Saturday will kick off at 11 a.m. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
