Omaha boxer Steven Nelson arrested in connection to shooting
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Police arrested a professional boxer from Omaha in connection to a shooting that happened March 31.
Steven Nelson, 35, was arrested and booked into Douglas County Corrections on one count of 2nd-degree assault, two counts of 1st-degree assault, one count use of a gun to commit a felony, and one count shooting at an occupied vehicle.

Omaha Police responded to the area of 43rd and Ohio Street for the report of an injured person.
Officers made contact with the victim, a 14-year-old girl, who said she’d been shot near the North 34th Street and Lincoln Boulevard, close to Bemis Park.
Police later located the scene at that location. The victim was transported to Nebraska Medicine with non-life threatening injuries.
Nelson’s last boxing bout was in July 2023 on the undercard of the Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence, Jr. event.
