SEBASTIAN, Fla. (WPBF) - Authorities in Florida say a 16-year-old girl died after falling nearly 30 feet through the roof of an abandoned building and landing on concrete.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office says a 16-year-old girl died Aug. 8 after falling through the roof of an abandoned four-story building in Sebastian. Investigators believe she and her friends had been trespassing when she fell nearly 30 feet and landed on concrete.

Her friends called 911.

“A girl fell from about three stories tall in the abandoned condos, through a hole,” the 911 caller told the dispatcher.

On the phone, the dispatcher walked them through CPR before first responders arrived.

“They’re coming as fast as they can, OK? Just keep going,” the dispatcher said.

The injured 16-year-old was flown to a nearby hospital, where she later died. Her name has not been released.

Authorities are calling the fall accidental.

In a statement, the sheriff’s office extended its condolences to the victim’s family and urged the public to recognize the dangers associated with abandoned structures.
