ORD, Neb. (KSNB) - Severe weather moved through central Nebraska late Monday into early Tuesday morning, causing damage in Valley County.

The town of Ord saw damage including downed trees and power lines.

Damage reported around Ord

Damage in the area, included a grain elevator that was crushed after winds tore through the area.

Gusts were reported at the Ord airport as high as 90 miles per hour.

The local power district said crews responded to multiple outages around Ord and Elyria.

The area’s emergency management agency said power was restored in the district just before 2 a.m. and said crews continue assessing damage.

First day of school postponed

The first day of school has been canceled for students in Ord following the storm. The district posted to its social media pages saying the first day of school in Ord will now be Wednesday, Aug. 19, with a 1 p.m. dismissal time.
