Ken Siemek began working for the 10/11 NOW news team in 1981 as a morning show producer. He was promoted to reporter/photographer in 1982, and to weekend weather anchor in 1983.
Ken's first day at the TV station was October 1, 1981.
"I have had an opportunity to work with great people, go to great places and learn great things. This state is my home and 10/11 NOW viewers are a part of my extended family. I have had the privilege of connecting with thousands of people through our shared love of this state and our shared fascination with weather."
Ken became 10/11's Chief Meteorologist in May of 1986.
"It has been a great pleasure to serve the people of Nebraska. The people I've worked with and the viewers I've met along the way have been the highlight of my career."
As a lifelong Nebraskan born in Columbus, Ken is a huge sports fan. He loves playing all sports but says at his "advanced age" it seems that golf is at the top of his list most of the time.
Ken follows all the Husker teams. "I marvel at the Midwest work ethic and sense of "team" that the best of "Big Red" has to offer."
Ken says if he had to choose one food to eat every day for the rest of his life it would be pizza. Clint Eastwood is his favorite actor and he laughs out loud to Larry The Cable Guy. Ken adds, "I wish they made more Westerns and I wish that Seinfeld had never ended."
After more than three decades of forecasting weather, Ken says, "I'm really looking forward to more accuracy, more wild Nebraska weather and more opportunities to meet more of you. After all, my job, and the real essence of journalism is to inform and serve the viewer. If it weren't for you, there would be no need for me, and I promise I will never forget that. Thanks for watching and always keep an eye on the sky!"
