Bill Schammert returned to his hometown of Lincoln in March 2017 as the 5 p.m. anchor and evening reporter. Two months later, he was promoted to 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. anchor in addition to the 5 p.m. newscasts.
Bill comes to 10/11 News after serving as a reporter and anchor for KOKH in Oklahoma City. He has previously worked as a journalist in Lincoln and also spent time reporting in Fargo. Bill was even an intern at 10/11 News back in Spring 2010!
As a wide-eyed third grader, Bill's interest in journalism started with early wake-up calls to watch the 6 a.m. SportsCenter. Although his love for sports has never faded (#FlyTheW and #GBR), after graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, he developed a passion for storytelling.
He's won several Associated Press and Nebraska Broadcasters Association awards for his storytelling, and is now a four-time Emmy Award winning journalist.
When he's not on TV, you can find Bill and his wife, Kym, exploring everything Nebraska has to offer (it's remarkable how quickly the landscape can change in Lincoln). He also enjoys spending time at the gym, or even finding his way into a pick-up basketball game.
Bill and Kym welcomed their first child, Theodore "Theo" Allen in November 2018.
Bill always loves to meet new people. Feel free to Tweet, Facebook or email him your questions, comments, story ideas, or to just say hi!
