Mikel has been the News Director at 10/11 since 2017.
A native of Nebraska, Mikel was a reporter and anchor at WSAW in Wausau, Wisconsin before becoming News Director in 2011. In 2014, he moved to lead the newsroom of KWTX in Waco, Texas.
Mikel lives in Lincoln and enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife, three daughters, and two dogs.

Legislative Bill 574, which tightens restrictions on abortion and on gender-affirming care for minors in Nebraska, passed its final vote, 33-15, on the way to Governor Pillen’s desk for signature Friday afternoon.

A Lancaster County District Court Judge denied a motion by the City of Lincoln to issue an injunction to close Madsen’s Billiards and Bowling, saying the City has the power to use law enforcement to enforce the Directed Health Measure and close the business, without requiring an injunction.

As the Big Ten Conference released the 2020 football schedule Wednesday, they also noted that schedules and protocols for other fall sports, including volleyball, are still being decided. But the conference said competition won’t start until September 5th at the earliest.
