LINCOLN, Neb. The Food Bank of Lincoln in partnership with 56 restaurants at 127 locations will stage the 27th Annual Dine Out to Help Out on Wednesday, Sept. 14. On that day, participating restaurants will donate 10% or more of the day's receipts to the Food Bank's efforts to feed hungry people.
According to a Feeding America study, more than 60,000 people who live in Southeast Nebraska are food insecure. During the 2016 fiscal year, the Food Bank of Lincoln connected people to more than 9.6 million meals through mobile food distributions, rural outreach, agency partner network, Child Hunger Programs and SNAP programs.
“Dine Out to Help Out is a great way for all of us to perform an act of kindness for those of us who are struggling,” said Food Bank of Lincoln Executive Director Scott Young. “Having enough healthy food ensures that a child can learn, an adult can pursue a positive work life, and a senior citizen can remain as vibrant as possible. By participating in Dine Out, our restaurant partners are lending our entire community a hand.”
Sponsors for Dine Out to Help Out include the Lincoln Journal Star, KFOR, KFRX, ESPN 1480, KZKX, KTGL and The Blaze.
Dine Out to Help Out is a centerpiece of Hunger Action Month, being commemorated in September. To view the full restaurant list go to www.lincolnfoodbank.org.
