Beatrice, NE (KOLN) -- Two workers were injured on Sunday morning at a Continental Carbonic plant just northwest of Beatrice on Sunday morning.
Beatrice Fire and Rescue says they along with Beatrice Rural Fire Department dispatched two ambulances to the scene shortly after 9:00 AM on Sunday morning. One worker was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital and the other was air lifted to Bryan West Hospital. There's still no word yet on their injuries or current conditions.
A fire official says, "...it may have been some sort of equipment or machine failure that had some pressurized product behind it." that caused the accident, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.
OSHA says that the company did notify them within 24 hours, like they are required to do. An OSHA spokesperson says OSHA typically investigates accidents like this one where an employee was hospitalized, but wouldn't confirm whether a formal investigation will take place into Sunday's accident.
OSHA records do indicate that the company, Continental Carbonic Products, has been fined in the past by OSHA at different plants across the country. The Beatrice plant has never been fined before.
More details regarding a potential OSHA investigation will be released later this week.
