Two car crash causes traffic congestion on Old Cheney Rd. near S. 70th

LINCOLN, Neb. - One person was taken to the hospital in critical condition after an accident between a car and a truck near S. 70th Street and Old Cheney Road.

The call came in as a rescue alarm around 6:30 Saturday evening.

Police directed and rerouted traffic on Old Cheney Road for at least an hour after the crash.

LPD says a car was going west when an eastbound truck turned in front of the car. That's when the car went off the road and hit a fence.

It took first responders 5-10 minutes to get everyone out of the two cars.

LPD says the person who was taken to the hospital was in critical condition, but the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
