HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) The first blizzard of 2018 forced the Adams county courthouse to close late Monday morning. And the Hastings city council postponed it's Monday night meeting to Tuesday night.

The storm, which hit Hastings, Grand Island and Kearney a couple of hours before sunrise Monday, has virtually shut down Hastings schools, government offices and businesses.

The Adams county roads department will use the following procedure in setting the priority for clearing county roads:

Plan on EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTES opened first, asphalt roads then onto gravel Emergency Snow Routes. Crew reports at 6 a.m., evaluate visibility & wind conditions to send motor graders on asphalt to open asphalt first then we will send out our trucks. Graders will then proceed to gravel Emergency Snow Routes (this map on County website or use the link below). All other roads will be opened at least one lane width (after emergency routes are cleared and after the wind reduces).
