Kearney man to prison for 2017 Grand Island shooting

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Kearney man is going to prison for his part in a Grand Island shooting last September.

Police connected Alex Solis, 32, to a September 2nd incident in which Jessica Alvarez was shot and wounded. The shooting happened at the Greenleaf apartments on Capital Avenue in Grand Island.

He was originally charged with attempted murder, first degree assault, two counts of using a firearm to commit a felony and one count of firearm possession by a prohibited person.

He pleaded no contest to firearm possession by a prohibited person. On Wednesday, a Hall county district court judge sentenced Solis to 5-7 years in prison.
