At the end of February, the Nebraska Athletic Department will no longer be paying former coaches and athletic directors that have been let go.

According to the University of Nebraska Athletic Department, at the end of the month, the final buyout payment to former Head Coach Bo Pelini will be made.

“The only outstanding obligation we currently have is to Bo Pelini, and the final payment for that occurs later this month,” a spokesperson for the department said.

That means that buyouts to both former athletic director Shawn Eichorst and former football coach Mike Riley are currently off the books.

Riley was owed $6.6 million after being let go in December 2017. The Athletic Department said that entire obligation was paid to Riley as of Wednesday.

Shawn Eichorst, who was fired in 2017, received a $1.7 million buyout that has also been paid in full.

When the last payment is made to Pelini this month, he will have received a total buyout of $ 6.4 million after being let go in 2014.
