Aubrey Trail did not appear at his scheduled court case on Friday afternoon, where he was expected to plead guilty to one of multiple felony charges.
Trail was expected to plead guilty to improper disposal of skeletal remains in Saline County District Court, but did not appear.
Documents filed in Saline County District Court on Thursday by Trail's Attorney Benjamin Murray showed he planned to change his plea to guilty on the improper disposal of human remains charge.
Trail is currently being held in Lincoln at the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center and claimed he was too ill to appear in court.
He is also facing charges of first-degree murder in connection to the disappearance and killing of 24-year-old Sydney Loofe.
Loofe's remains were found in garbage bags in rural Clay County in December 2017, after she had been missing for 19 days.
Trail is set to go on trial for the charges on June 17 in Saline County.
Bailey Boswell is also charged in connection to the killing of Loofe. She is scheduled to go on trial in October.
The state is seeking the death penalty against both Boswell and Trail.
