Baby death investigation underway in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - An investigation is underway into the death of a 4-month-old baby girl in Lincoln.

On Thursday, Lincoln Police said the autopsy is complete and nothing came up for an obvious cause of death.

Investigators are now awaiting toxicology results.

Authorities removed three children from the Lincoln home while police investigate the death of their sibling.

According to LPD, an unresponsive baby was taken to Bryan East on Saturday. The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital and officers were called in to investigate.

An investigator says the parents couldn't explain what happened to the baby, so removing the other children from the home was necessary for their protection. The tiny girl had a severe rash and open sores.

The siblings are ages 3, 11 and 15.

The names of those involved haven't been released. No arrests have been reported.
