NEAR DEWEESE, Neb. (KSNB) A Fairfield man died Tuesday in what a local law enforcement agency believes to be an attack from a bull.

Nuckolls County Attorney John Hodge told Local4 the victim was Kenneth Volz, 40.

A Facebook post from the Nuckolls County Sheriff's office indicates the incident happened sometime Tuesday afternoon or evening.

The victim's girlfriend called the Sheriff's office Tuesday evening around 7:15 and reported that Volz had not returned from checking cows.

Sheriff's deputies went to a rural location near the intersection of Road 3100 and Road Z about two miles southwest of DeWeese in northern Nuckolls county.

When they arrived the girlfriend reported finding the man's body in a field. An investigation determined that Volz was in a field with cows and a bull carrying a bucket. At some point the bull attacked and Volz was unable to escape the attack.
