LPD: Lincoln Burger King out $1300 after scam

Lincoln, NE A Lincoln Burger King is out $1300 after an employee was contacted by someone she believed was a federal officer.

LPD said the incident happened on December 4th around 8 a.m. at the Burger King near 84th and O streets.

According to police, the employee received a call from a man who said he was from the Federal Bureau.

He told her due to recent thefts, she needed to take the nightly deposit and buy prepaid gift cards with it and send the codes to him. She followed his instructions and sent him over $1300.

When LPD was notified they identified that the call was made from a bogus number.
