Cass County prosecutor appointed district judge

Cass County Attorney Nathan Cox has been appointed to the post of district court judge.

Governor Pete Ricketts announced that he has appointed Cox to the Second Judicial District of the Nebraska Court System.

In his role as County Attorney, Cox, 53, directs the prosecution of more than 3,000 cases a year through County Court and additional cases in District Court. Cox also handles appeals to the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court. Cox previously served as the Deputy County Attorney for the Adams County Attorney’s Office.

Cox holds a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Brigham Young University as well as a Juris Doctor from the Creighton University School of Law.

The Second Judicial District serves Cass, Otoe, and Sarpy Counties.

The vacancy is due to the retirement of Judge William B. Zastera.
