LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The United Way and Community Health Charities held the Community Match Challenge on March 5-9, raising a total of $35,359.

The goal of the event was $22,000.

United Way and Community Health Charities have a total of 64 member charities or organizations. These agencies depend on the United Way/Community Health Charities campaign for critical funds.

The annual campaign wraps up at the end of March, and even with the $35,000 plus raised during the Community Match Challenge, the organizations are still behind last year's total.

Sarah Wischhof is the director of marketing and special events for the United Way.

She said, "We want to make sure that everyone who is need of services has access to them. When we're facing a deficit, it puts a strain on the partner agencies that we support."

You can still donate to the cause in a number of ways.
