Construction worker significantly injured after being hit by car

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A construction worker was significantly injured when he was hit by a vehicle on Friday morning.

The incident happened around 8 a.m. near 16th and Old Cheney.

An LPD accident report said the driver of the vehicle was heading eastbound on Old Cheney when she turned to observe the other lane.

When she turned back around, the construction worker was standing behind a truck and trailer on Old Cheney, the accident report states.

The driver collided with the pedestrian, pinning him between the vehicle and back of the trailer.

Initial reports state the worker was attempting to place a sign when the incident occurred.

The worker was transported with a significant leg injury, but there is no word yet on his status.
