Semi truck driver killed in I-80 crash identified

The Nebraska State Patrol has released the name of a Nebraska man killed in a semi crash on Interstate 80 Wednesday afternoon.
Mitchell Quandt, 30, of Yutan, Nebraska, was killed when the semi he was driving crossed the median and struck another semi.
NSP said the accident happened just before 4:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-80 near Beaver Crossing at mile marker 369.
A semi hauling cars, driven by Quandt, was traveling eastbound and struck the back of a 2018 Mercedes SUV, then crossed the median and hit another semi head-on.
Quandt was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the westbound semi, Rodney Wilkerson, 53, of Glenvil, NE, was transported to York General Hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV, Claudio Maurelia, 73, of Inverness, IL was not injured.
Westbound I-80 was closed for approximately three hours.
