Police make arrest in connection to fatal crash on O Street

LINCOLN, Neb. – Lincoln Police have arrested a 19-year-old man and charged him with motor vehicle homicide in connection to a fatal crash that took place on O Street in late March.

LPD said Marvin Rivas-Villanueva was arrested Monday and charged with motor vehicle homicide in connection to the crash near O Street and Lyncrest Drive on March 29.

The crash claimed the life of Jared Williams, 23. Williams was in the rear passenger seat in the vehicle.

Three others were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Multiple witnesses told police Rivas-Villanueva was revving up his engine and accelerating before losing control and crashing into oncoming traffic.

He was traveling at least 70 MPH on a wet roadway before the crash took place, police said.
