Dangers of youth sports specialization

LINCOLN, Neb. Over the past decade the three sport athlete has become increasingly rare in youth sports leagues across the country. With the growing pressure to specialize in a specific sport, overuse injuries and burnout are at an all time high in young athletes.

Kids spend their off seasons working with personal trainers and playing non stop on travel teams, all with the hopes of making it to the next level.

But local physicians, coaches and trainers feel that over specialization could cut many great careers short.
