Sarpy County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a bizarre crash that killed one person Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened at West Highway 6 and Melia Rd., just west of the outlet mall.
According to the sheriff's office, a 2000 Chevy Silverado was pulling a pontoon boat on a trailer on eastbound Hwy 6. It was attempting to turn onto northbound Melia Rd. when a 2005 Toyota Camry traveling westbound on Hwy 6 struck the boat and trailer.
The operator of the Toyota sustained life-threatening injuries and died at the scene of the accident. He has been identified as Gary Stott, 76, of Papillion.
The driver of the Chevy was identified as Daniel Klaumann, 73, of Gretna. He and his passenger, LuAnn Klaumann, were uninjured.
The highway was shut down in both directions while the investigation takes place. State officials advised the highway had reopened by 5:30 p.m.
