UPDATE: Puppy stolen from Gage County returned to its owner

Officials said a 3-month-old puppy stolen off a porch in Gage County has been reunited with its owner.

GAGE COUNTY, Neb (KOLN) -- Officials said a 3-month-old puppy stolen off a porch in Gage County has been reunited with its owner.

According to deputies, the puppy named Blackbear was stolen on Sunday.

Witnesses identified the suspect who stole the dog. Deputies interviewed the suspect who admitted to taking the dog.

According to deputies, the suspect said the dog was given to new owners. The suspect refused to share where the dog was currently located.

On Monday morning, the Gage County Sheriff's Office asked for the public's help finding the missing dog.

Late Monday morning, Blackbear was turned over to an investigator at the Sheriff's Office. Officials said the dog was happy, healthy, and show no signs of abuse or mistreatment.

Deputies contacted Blackbear's owner and she was reunited with the dog at the sheriff’s office.

Deputies issued citations for theft to Kimberly Petersen, 56, of rural Wymore and Kristin Wilcox, 55, of Barneston for theft by unlawful taking.

Deputies also issued citations to Kristin Wilcox and Todd Wilcox, 57, for False Reporting.
