SIDNEY, Neb. (KNEP) Sidney Volunteer Fire Department responded to a duplex fire in Sidney, Nebraska early Wednesday morning. Fire Chief LaVerne Bown said the fire was so bad it is probably a total loss.
On December 19, 2018 at about 2:30 am, Sidney Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call at Fort Sidney Apartments. Also on scene were Sidney PD and Regional West Ambulance.
The fire consumed an entire apartment in the duplex. Both occupants are displaced but escaped the blaze unharmed.
Sidney VFD is in contact with the Red Cross and Firefighter ministries in the area, who are assisting the residents displaced by the fire.
According to Chief Bown, the fire was under control around 3:15 am. State fire marshals stayed to investigate the scene.
The crews left at about 6:30 am, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The cause is not considered to have been arson.
