FEMA in need of help with disaster recovery efforts

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - FEMA says it is now in immediate need of hiring Nebraskan’s to help with disaster recovery efforts.

On Tuesday, 10/11 NOW we went out with door-to-door inspectors in Saline County.

It's looking to hire people to help in areas like Lincoln, Grand Island, and Norfolk for a variety of emergency management functions.

There are currently 27 counties in Nebraska that are eligible for individual assistance under the Federal Disaster Program.

"If you have some initial repairs that you may need to make we might be able to help you with that as well, if you've had medical issues pertaining to to the storm or even funeral expenses those are also things that may be on the table to assist you,” said FEMA Media Relations Specialist, Renee Bafalis.

FEMA currently has over 400 people on the ground in the state and they say they will be in Nebraska until everyone's needs are met.
