A former youth leader at a church in Lincoln is facing charges of attempted sexual assault and child abuse after attempting to inappropriately touch a young boy.

A warrant was issued for Taylor Martin, 22, on Friday after a young boy, who is under the age of 14, disclosed that roughly a year ago, Martin acted inappropriately toward him at the First Plymouth Church, according to a probable cause affidavit for his arrest.

The First Plymouth Church is located at 2000 D Street in Lincoln.

The victim told a trusted adult in February 2018 that Taylor “grabbed him by the sides and tried to kiss” him in the bathroom of the church last year, according to court documents.

The victim also said Martin requested to partake in a sex act.

The victim said no and left the room, according to court documents.

Upon further investigation, authorities discovered the incident happened sometime in 2017 and occurred after the child left the gym where he was playing basketball.

Court records show Martin moved to Washington D.C. after leaving the church in 2017, and he has not been taken into custody as of Tuesday afternoon, Lincoln Police said.
