It is a disease that can go undetected in the body for years.
There are two types, hyper and hypo thyroidal disease. It's can affect everything from how fast your heart beats to how fast you burn calories.
Your thyroid is located at the back of the neck under the adam's apple. Your thyroid is related to every function of your body. If it isn't working properly it can increase your risk of a heart attack, stroke, kidney disorder even high cholesterol.
It also affects how fast you burn calories and can make losing weight more difficult. Women are eight times more likely to to have thyroid issues.
Dr. Christopher Murray, Murray Natural Health says some of the symptoms include "Irregularly cold or hot, changes in hair or skin or perhaps they are losing hair in odd places. If they start having palpitations, they are unusually tired all the time even if they get sleep at night."
It is easily detectable by standard lab work and it is treatable. You can treat thyroids through hormone replacement, radioactive iodine, medications and even surgery.
