GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Someone set a fire just outside a Grand Island church while about 30 people were inside for Wednesday night church activities.

Fire department officials say the fire at First Faith United Methodist church, 4190 West Capital Ave, in north Grand Island, was not an accident. Police are investigating it as an arson.

The fire was reported Wednesday about 6:30 p.m. Some bushes and grass just outside the church were burned, some siding on an exterior wall was melted and a nearby window was cracked.

Police say children were inside the building for a confirmation class and there was also a bell choir practice at the time of the fire. Nobody was injured.
