LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN)- A Nebraska organization is working to get fresh produce to those who need it. The Growing Together Nebraska Garden Project is working to grow over 1,000 pounds of basic vegetables at the Nebraska Extension in Lancaster County.
"We get to put fresh produce into the hands of people who need it,” said Emily Gratopp, extension education at Lancaster County Extension. “We get to reduce all of these barriers. We literally just get to bring this really nutrient dense food to people in their time of need."
Throughout the state, the program was able to donate 31,000 pounds of fresh produce to people. The produce from this garden will go to Connection Point and The Bay.
