GERING, Neb. With the Gering High School construction project, many upgrades have been coming along with little to no issues.

According to Principal for Gering High School Eldon Hubbard, so far, the administration and counseling offices were completely rebuilt and they are ready to move between today and even tomorrow.

The choir director’s classrooms were returned back to them along with the classrooms on the west wing of the building.

The boilers are fired up and ventilations have placed in each classroom.

Foundation has been poured for the Freshman Academy.

The auxiliary gym and weight room are almost complete with the kitchen being a work in progress.

They are continuing adding steel for the commons area and are looking to frame up the media center in about a week. The old media center will be turned into modified classrooms.

“I thought there would be some bigger bumps in the road,” said Eldon Hubbard, Principal for Gering High School. “We moved some teachers around and some kids. It’s a longer of a walk for a lot of things since we moved the front entrance down. The kids are so great, very resilient and have been able to move through all these changes very well with no problems.”

With all of the open construction space and for security purposes, all construction workers have to pass a background check. There are security cameras placed all across the facility.

Hubbard says the project has been on time and on budget. If you would like to stay up to date with this progress, you can go on their website at https://www.geringschools.net/ghsproject/ghsbuildingproject/.
