Principal David Kumm presented Miss Jerchen with a big Halloween surprise at a school assembly this morning and the honoree expressed her feelings on about her beloved school, "It's a family. The teachers are family. The parents are family. The children are family. Just like a family we have disagreements but just like a family we have that love at the end of the day."
This energetic music teacher has been teaching at Trinity Lutheran School for the past 14 years and she sums up winning the Golden Apple Award with one word, "Unbelievable. I'm just so honored, this is just fantastic. I never would have suspected so thank you so much."
It's safe to say, this 2001 graduate of Concordia University in Seward loves just about everything about teaching, "I love kids. I love being with kids. I love spending time with kids. I love singing with kids. I love being silly with kids. I love that I don't have to grow up. I can just be with the kids and enjoy them and teach them and learn from them."
