Handgun found in hotel nightstand

LINCOLN, Neb. – Lincoln Police said a handgun was found in a hotel room by a chaperone on a high school trip.

LPD said on April 8, the chaperon found the handgun in the nightstand at the Courtyard Marriott, located at 808 R Street.

The students and the chaperon were in town for the FCCLA convention.

LPD was able to track down the owner of the gun, who was a 60-year-old man from Missouri.

Police said he was legally allowed to own the gun.
