LINCOLN, Neb. – Lincoln Police arrested a 30-year-old man for DUI and drug possession after he revved his engine and drifted in circles in front of an officer who was handling a traffic stop.

LPD said on Sunday around 5 a.m., an officer was stopped at N 35th and Huntington for a traffic stop.

Arturo Raya, 30, was driving a Chevy Silverado eastbound when he began revving his engine, police said.

He then slammed on his brakes and began drifting in circles before losing control in the grass, according to LPD. Police said it appeared Raya was trying to gain the attention of the officer.

Raya drove away, and the officer followed, police said, and eventually pulled him over near 40th and Adams streets.

Raya was taken into custody, police said and found to be in possession of .7 grams of cocaine. He was also intoxicated with a BAC of .185, according to LPD.

Raya was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, DUI, and willful reckless driving.
