Iowa, Purdue Marching Bands honor fallen Husker

The life of a University of Nebraska-Lincoln student and Cornhusker Marching Band member was cut short.

Trumpet player Tyler Butterfield was killed in a car accident on October 26 in Lincoln.

This past weekend, the trumpet sections of both the University of Iowa and Purdue joined together to honor Butterfield and his band family at Nebraska.

"Marching Band is a family, and when others in our family are hurting, we all feel that with them," said in a post on the University of Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band Facebook page.

The post goes on to offer their thoughts and prayers to the Nebraska Band, Tyler’s family and friends, and the two other trumpet players who were also involved in the accident.

"We are all family," the post said.
