Fire at storage unit causes $70K in damage

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -- Lincoln Fire and Rescue say a storage unit fire caused $70,000 worth of damage on Thursday morning.

According to LFR, the call came in at 7:50 a.m. regarding a storage unit on fire at 5960 Platte Avenue.

When crews arrived, they put out the fire, and they made contact with someone who rents the unit who said he was in the unit this morning, using a space heater and smoking.

Fire investigators say they can't determine the exact cause due to the instability of the structure.
