Lincoln Police responded to reports of a shooting near 46th and Starr Streets in North Lincoln around 7 p.m. on Thursday. A 57-year-old woman was shot through the shoulder blade, according to officers on scene.

More than a dozen squad cars showed up, but after about an hour, Lincoln Police determined the shooting was likely accidental.

According to police, 21-year-old Matthew Krahmer of Lincoln, lives in the apartment unit above where the shooting occurred. Police believe the victim was not the intended target. Law enforcement tells 10/11 Krahmer was expecting a potentially violent encounter with a different individual he was currently disputing with. Krahmer told police the gun may have discharged, releasing the bullet into the victim's apartment as he was placing the gun down.

Krahmer was taken into custody for second degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
