Art-itecture is the name of an exhibit that's located inside the Chapin Studios & Gallery near 14th and O streets in downtown Lincoln.

The exhibit was assembled by gallery owner Scott Sullivan, a full-time architect with an appreciation for the connection between architecture and art.

Deon Bahr is a proud 1957 graduate of Omaha North High School and 1961 grad of UNL in architecture but after a long career of running Bahr Vermeer and Haecker architectural firm, Deon decided to go back to UNL to study art in 2002. And the results of all that learning are on display at the Chapin Art Studio. Deon says, "My paintings are as you can see a lot of stripes, pretty minimal, but strong and powerful paintings. And I like 'em a lot nobody else necessarily has to but I like 'em plenty well."

Dale Gibbs has appreciated Deon's talents since he taught him at UNL in the early 60's. Dale is also an architect turned artist, "I'm attracted mostly to landscapes and I can't tell you precisely why except that both of my grandparents were ranchers so I spent a lot of summers in the ranch country."

If you'd like to check out Deon & Dale's art up close and personal, it will be on display for the rest of the month at Chapin Studios. Drop by Friday afternoons from 1 to 5pm & Saturdays from 10am to 5pm.
