Lance's Journal: The Running Accordionist, Apr. 9, 2018

Addie Hejl will be on her way to Australia this summer and she can't wait to run down under.

Addie started to find her stride when she got involved with junior high cross country in Malcolm.

She kept improving the last couple of years and now it's plain to see that Addie was born, "I mean it's kind of like relaxing. Because when I'm running, I have a lot of time to think about stuff and it's a lot of 'me time."'

Addie has turned her "me time" into the trip of a lifetime. She says, "Apparently, they send scouts to cross country meets all over and so I got a letter and I was like, 'Wow, this is cool, but I'm never going to be able to go because I was like how am I going to afford this.' And then, my parents were actually pretty cool about it and so here I am."

It's obvious that Addie loves to run, but there is another great passion in her's the accordion. Addie explains, "Well, my grandpa bought me my first accordion when I was about 8 or so."

This 14 year old freshman started getting serious about playing the button accordion when she was 12, "I started at a young age and I'm playing and not a lot of people my age do it and so I just kind of want to be like known for that."

If you would like to get your hands on one of Addie's CD's, go to the "Addie Hejl Band" facebook page.

And if you'd like to hear the "Addie Hejl Band" in person they'll be playing at the Koloc Korner in Prague on April 20th.

And if you can't see her in person, check out "The Addie Hejl Band" on youtube.
