MONROE, Neb. (NCN) - The cause of a massive fire at a scrap metal recycling center in Monroe is under investigation.
Around 4 p.m. Tuesday, Monroe Fire and Rescue requested assistance for a fire that broke out at Roadrunner Iron and Metal. Calls came in throughout the next hour for more manpower and additional water tankers to assist with the fire.
Platte Center, Columbus Rural Fire and Rescue and Central Valley Ag were all called in to help.
While individuals at the scene say it was a tire fire, the exact cause is still under investigation.
