Truck stop gun shot suspect charged with misdemeanor

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Fargo, ND, man faces a misdemeanor charge after a gun shot was fired at a local truck stop November 16.

Brian Clark, 36, was arrested after a gunshot from inside the cab of a truck. The truck stop was shut down for two hours while sheriff's deputies worked to control the situation.

Clark is charged with misdemeanor obstructing a peace officer. If convicted he could get up to one year in prison and a $1,000 fine.

Deputies were called to Bosselman's Travel Center Thursday afternoon to check on the welfare of a truck driver.

After deputies arrived, they located the truck associated with the truck driver and identified Clark.

When deputies approached the truck they heard a gunshot come from inside the cab of the truck. Hall County sheriff Jerry Watson told KSNBLocal4 that officers fired a pepper spray canister into a truck.

With assistance from the Grand Island Police Department and the Nebraska State Patrol, Clark was removed from the vehicle. A handgun was seized from inside the cab of the truck.

No injuries were sustained in this incident.

For a time during the incident, the truck stop was blocked off to traffic.
