LINCOLN, Neb. — The day you learn to ride a bike is one you always remember, and on Tuesday, one Lincoln girl got an unexpected surprise the she's likely to never forget.
Grace Meints suffers from a debilitating condition called PHACE Syndrome, which effects her balance and stamina.
But Tuesday, Grace received a gift that made her feel just like any other 13-year-old kid.
Grace received a special type of bicycle through the “Great Bike Giveaway,” a campaign started by Friendship Circle of Michigan, that will provide Grace freedom to do some outdoor activities that other kids her age can do.
“This will give her exercise and give her strength and make her smile,” said Grace's mother, Jen.
The Friendship Circle of Michigan started the “Great Bike Giveaway Campaign” as a small charity effort, and this year they plan to donate more than 600 bikes to families like Grace's.
And Jen Meints, couldn't be more grateful.
“Not every kids in a wheel chair not every kid has a walker, and I think her getting something fun and recreational to do made her heart happy,” she said.
