LINCOLN, Neb.- Airbnb announced that Lincoln hosts earned over $45,000 during the May 3 to May 5 commencement weekend for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. During this period, Airbnb users hosted 600 guests.

According to Airbnb, this is represented by far the largest surge of guests to Lincoln in the history of Airbnb's platform.

“Graduation weekends are known to fill hotels to peak capacity,” said Laura Spanjian, Airbnb senior policy director. “Home sharing and vacation rentals have allowed cities like Lincoln to utilize pre-existing resources, people’s homes, to expand lodging capacity and retain as many visitors as possible.”

Airbnb previously announced that its Lancaster host community earned a combined $1.1 million in income through home sharing while hosting 14,000 customers.
