Lincoln City Council approves shipping container duplex construction

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN)- Lincoln City Council Members unanimously signed off a $1.4 million plan to add duplexes made of shipping containers. A total of eight units in four duplexes will be constructed at 28th and Vine Street. The development of the project would be lead by TJK Investments Inc.

Council Members also approved nearly $222,000 in tax increment financing. TIF funds would be used for site preparation, utility improvements, screening improvements and public right-of-way improvements.

The bottom unit would be a two bedroom apartment and second floor a one bedroom apartment. There is no timetable right now on when construction could start.
