Lincoln business helps Discovery Channel celebrate Shark Week

LINCOLN, Neb. - The start of an unofficial holiday week is upon us. Shark Week on Discovery Channel is celebrating its 30th anniversary. In Lincoln, Bulu Box is teaming up with the channel to create limited edition boxes to celebrate.

Bulu creates subscription sample boxes that are sent around the world.
The boxes include everything from vitamins and supplements to healthy snacks.

These custom Shark Week boxes depart from Bulu's norm, but CEO Paul Jarrett said the creation process remained the same.

"Okay, so basically, it's a really long complicated process in which we all toss around ideas," Jarrett joked. "And basically, the cool stuff we do and the dumb stuff we don't."

Jarrett said he was at a trade show when he happened to get into an elevator with a woman wearing Shark Week merchandise. When he mentioned he loved the show, the woman revealed she worked in development of new products for Shark Week.

"I thought to myself, 'Here goes the classic elevator pitch,'" Jarrett said. "It went from the elevator pitch to us actually getting coffee and making this a reality. I told her my vision and they liked it, so we teamed up."

The custom Shark Week boxes contain fun themed items, including a limited edition t-shirt, a bobble head, kinetic sand inside a hammerhead shark, heat sensor mug and Swedish Fish candy to eat as you watch Shark Week. The box is also reversible, turning into a shark itself.

The boxes cost $59.99 and are available on this website.
