Local musician to compete in top 4 in Nashville

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Update:
The votes are in and Rascal Martinez is on his way to Nashville Thursday to compete against three other finalists in the national on-line competition which fans helped him win to this point.

He will be getting national exposure as he hits the stage Thursday with a 25-minute set of five songs to be preformed in front of judges.

He said he is super excited, and cannot thank fans enough for their support. Over 1500 votes came in for him on Friday, making him one of four finalists to compete. He will go up against bands Peachy, Veaux and The Made and the Born.

If he wins the contest on Thursday he will preform at a live festival on July 4th, among other prizes.


Local musician, Rascal Martinez is a local music star shooting for the big stage. Rascal tours year-round including Nashville, Chicago, Los Angeles and Denver to name a few.

He will set out on the Lonely West tour the end of this month traveling from Arizona all the way back up to Colorado. Shows are supported by material from three CDs. His fan base is extensive and loyal, with more than 22,000 followers on Facebook.

Rascal is now in the top 8 in Music City Mayhem online contest. It started with more than 400 submissions and fans have voted Rascal all the way to the top 8!

He is now in the final round of fan voting and the top 4 will battle at Marathon Music Works in Nashville on April 25. Rascal needs your votes. You can vote Friday 9 a.m. til 11:59 pm.
