Local radio personality arrested on strangulation charge, on leave from job
A local radio personality was arrested on a strangulation charge early Sunday morning.
Matthew Rydberg, who goes by Matt McKay on the KFRX morning show, was arrested early Sunday morning.
Lincoln Police said the incident, which involved Rydberg assaulting a woman, took place around 2:30 a.m. The assault was witnessed by two people.
Police said Rydberg showed signs of intoxication at the scene.
Rydberg, 41, has been charged with felony strangulation.
At a court hearing on Monday afternoon, bond for Rydberg was set at 10 percent of $25,000.
Rydberg posted bond and was released.
Matt Mckay was not listed on the
as of early Monday afternoon. Late Monday afternoon, Alpha Media, the broadcast company that owns KFRX, released a statement,
"Matt Rydberg (McKay) is currently on leave. In light of recent news, Alpha’s main concern is for Matt and his family. We ask the public and media to respect their privacy. Alpha Media does not comment on internal personnel issues and has no further comment at this time."
